The First Dennis Falcons Enter The Fleet


1983 saw a new type of single decker enter the fleet these being Dennis Falcon's with East Lancs bodywork.

1981 saw the last four Leyland Atlantean's with East Lancs bodywork enter the fleet.

1980 Vehicle Intake


1980 saw a single new Leyland Atlantean with East Lancs bodywork enter the fleet.

Bus 36 was withdrawn in 1991.

The year also saw 4 Leyland Atlantean with Roe bodywork acquired from West Yorkshire PTE to replace buses 73-76 which were sold to Eastbourne Corporation due to wishing to standardise on dual door buses.

Bus 9 was converted to open top in 1984 becoming O43/26D. Bus 8 was withdrawn in 1991, bus 10 was withdrawn in 1992 and buses 6-7 were withdrawn in 1994. Bus 6 is preserved in the Ipswich Transport Museum and Bus 9 is still in the operational fleet.

1968 Deliveries


1968 saw the first non AEC buses enter the fleet, these also being the first rear engined double deckers which were Leyland Atlantean with local Eastern Coach Works bodywork.
